Disclaimer: I have met, and worked with a ton of brilliant people of Indian descent. I am in no way bigoted, and am not lumping people into a barrel because of their nationality. This is merely a list of things that piss me off about having to bid against "outsourced", or "overseas" development teams.

5) People who have dealt with Indian development teams in the past now think that they can get $5,000 worth of work for $50.
4) Someone comes to you with a project that was started in India, and you wind up having to re-build from scratch. That customer winds up paying more than if they had gone with you in the first place.
3) People don't realize that the code they are going to get from an Indian development team is not maintainable because it was done off-the-cuff, to get it "out the door quickly", and they wind up getting trash, yet, after all the pain and suffering of this, they still think that YOUR time is not worth it (see #5).
2) A small American web development shop can not compete due to the lowered prices and "perceived" value that the customer sees.

On a serious note, folks, if you're looking to compare an Indian development team with an American one, look at the quality first, not the price. I have heard many horror stories about these "outsourced" shops, ranging from the project never getting done to the project getting done wrong, and them asking for more money because that's "not how they understood it" to companies having to dump the outsourced firm and start over after dropping $30k because it was a mess.
