Pizza Delivery double-tax
So, Domino's is now charging $1.99 delivery fee, on top of the sales tax for their pies. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's been like this for like how many years? I just felt like bitching about it.
Why the hell do they do this? Is it because the drivers kept getting stiffed, so they put in a mandatory tip? Do the drivers even get any part of that $1.99? Does it go toward that driver's salary? I don't know, I've never delivered pizzas, but...
Let's say that a guy can deliver 6 pizzas per hour. In round numbers, the $1.99 "delivery fee" gives us $12 per hour. If the guy is making minimum wage, which is just more than half of that, where does the extra money go? Domino's pockets? Does the driver get to take the extra cash and apply it toward gas?
I mean, I really want to know. What happens to the extra buck that the driver gets tipped on TOP of this delivery fee? Does he get that buck? If it's done on a credit card, does the driver ever see it?
Is there anyone out there that is doing this for a living that could help shed some light on this topic for me?
I may be wrong.. but i doubt
I may be wrong.. but i doubt it. I think you have WAYYYYY to much time on your hands..
No way man
Stuff like this matters! If the driver isn't getting any of the "Delivery Fee" then Dominos is intentionally misleading their customers while screwing the poor delivery guy out of his tips:

Right, so... My $9.99 pizza
Right, so...
My $9.99 pizza winds up being almost $15 after the tax, tip, and Delivery charge, if I choose to tip them in the first place.
Granted, from a real pizzeria, it is going to be almost $20, but the quality of the pizza is about 1000X better.
I think I'm going to start a "boycott corporate pizza" movement. Who's with me?
Boycott
...but then... how am I supposed to get my corporate pizza?
Stop buying from Dominos
nuff sed.
Duh.
No shit. Was that your brilliant thought of the day?
Good subject
He did agree with you tho. Not as if that's always good.

Delivery Tax is Fucked!
I actually deliver pizza and have been astounded by this ludicrous pizza delivery tax. As a river I see next to none of this tax and I'm told by other delivery drivers from other stores that they receive even less. The least amount I've been told is $0.30. At my store the tax went up 35 cents due to the increase in gas prices. Of that 35 cents, we only receive an extra 5 cents. I stumbled across this while researching what happens to the extra money since the money I'm receiving is not exactly cutting the price of gas and the extra damage these new batches of tainted gas are causing my vehicle.
