The Joys of Callcenters
Bought QBooks accounting software today for just over $200. Bring
it home, install it, run it for the first time and it says "This product is not
registered. You have 14 uses left OR ELSE."
Fuck. I hate having to register anything with anyone, especially when
I'm not given a choice and I paid cash for the software? SIGH... so I
go through the whole "registration process" yet again just like on every
other damn e-commerce web site whatever everywhere all the time.
Once complete, it begins the survey I get to take. Doesn't ask
whether I would like to *take* the survey - just forces me right in there
leaving me with no choice if I want to use the software.
After finishing the survey with intentionally wrong info in order to fuck
things up for them as much as possible (waste my time I'll waste yours),
I am finally greeted by the sacred "Submit" button. Yay!
Click submit and... "We're sorry but we are unable to process your
registration at this time. Please call us at 12345678."
Arrrgh gragh fuckity bleargh. This is completely insane. All I would
like to do is use the software I just paid $200 for?
Try to call - it's 0930PM. "We're closed call back later" and hangs up.
Call again the next morning and get through to their callcenter in India.
The guy tries really hard to sell me a technical support package (and
with my experience thus far I REALLY want to purchase more service
from them right?!) ... WTF ... anyway finally get my code. I'm registered.
Enlightenment achieved.
The whole reason why I've put up with this is because my bank offers a
quickbooks plugin for $100 which will allow you to auto-sync transactions
directly over the internet . So I go buy it and start to read the installation
docs which aren't available to you until after they get your money.
It says in the docs that the plugin works with all versions of QBooks
since 2002 - except for on Mac. The module does not work at all
with Qbooks for Mac.
What kind of computer do you think I have? Yep... a Mac.
